Peter L. Howell is Managing Director of Howell International Inc., a firm which provides international and domestic financial advisory services. Prior to founding Howell International Inc. in June of 1994, Mr. Howell returned from a five year assignment in London, England where he was a Senior Vice President of the International Advisory Division for Lehman Brothers International. His career with Lehman Brothers began in 1986 and during his time with this firm he was responsible for preparing financial strategies for government and corporate clients in developing countries with relation to their external finance activities. His personal responsibilities included a broad range of financial advisory assignments in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. In particular, he served as a key advisor to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Russia, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Guatemala, and Costa Rica.
Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, Mr. Howell was a Vice President working for the Special Loan Division of The Chase Manhattan Bank, N.A. in New York. In this capacity he managed a USD 250 million portfolio of U.S.-based entities having financial difficulties. His responsibilities included the development of restructuring strategies with the objective of minimizing financial losses. Mr. Howell began his career with Chase in 1979 where he successfully completed the bank’s one year credit training program. He subsequently worked for three years in Chase’s Santiago, Chile branch. Mr. Howell is a graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, and he is fluent in Spanish.
